Here are a few recent real world examples of how the HALitics technology stack has automated business processes and enabled entirely new businesses. The flexibility of our platform and its ability to happily coexist with existing enterprise systems makes the potential use cases almost unlimited.
|
Multi-Entity ConsolidationSituation: Needed to combine transactional history for three companies acquired by a PE-backed platform company and report on consolidated metrics with full detail drill down capability without suffering the cost and distraction of a full-blown ERP consolidation project.
Solution: Ingested raw transaction data from three systems for last 5 years, performed data transformations, unioned all data into a single data warehouse to drive reporting Impact: Avoided costly rip-and-replace ERP project, implemented "full detail" consolidated reporting in a few weeks giving full visibility to performance and trends. |
COVID Testing At ScaleSituation: PE-backed ambulance service portfolio company needed to rapidly build the capability to perform and result mobile COVID tests at scale, something that existing operations and billing systems were not able to handle.
Solution: Used no-code platform to build a HIPAA compliant testing platform that integrated multiple diagnostic laboratories, data validation services, state and federal reporting systems, an inbound/outbound call center and automated text, email and voice-based test result workflows. Impact: Company was able to create a brand new line of business in just two weeks and rapidly scale to meet urgent testing needs for some of the most vulnerable populations at over 3,000 testing locations. Highly automated ordering and resulting processes allowed company to ramp up to 10,000 tests performed and resulted daily with a mean time from test to result of under 18 hours at the height of the pandemic. |
Performance Management DashboardsSituation: PE-backed portfolio company lacked robust set of management dashboards to drive visibility and accountability for performance. Performance data needed to be drawn from multiple disconnected sources and existing metrics were too highly aggregated and time delayed to be truly actionable.
Solution: Leveraged data warehouse automation tools to tie multiple data sources together to drive a suite of actionable drill-down management dashboards covering volumes, mix, price, revenue cycle, on-time performance, resource deployment & utilization. Impact: Gave real-time visibility to key profit drivers in ever changing operationally intensive business. Identified constantly changing areas of under-performance allowing management team to course correct in real time and avoid significant customer losses in a highly resource constrained industry. |
On-Demand StaffingSituation: Ambulance service business was suffering from extreme afternoon demand spikes and a severe industry-wide shortage of EMT and Paramedic resources that resulted in poor on time performance that results in delays to patient progression through capacity constrained healthcare systems.
Solution: Used no-code platform to build an "Uber for ambulance staff" application in just 3 weeks. Application matched -- in real time -- available shifts, vehicle locations and the availability and location of appropriately licensed part-time staff to surge transportation capacity during periods of surge demand. Impact: Enabled company to take the ambulance to the staff rather than the other way around thus tapping into a large pool of under utilized undergraduate student EMT resources who are able to work shorter peak-demand shifts but require schedule flexibility and were largely unable to travel to outlying base locations to pick up traditional longer shifts. This enabled the company to surge Ambulance resources during peak hospital discharge hours each day greatly improving on time performance. |
Scheduling, Time & Resource BillingSituation: A company with 1,000 employees needed to hire and manage over 2,000 additional full time, part time and agency staff deployed to up to 60 locations on a daily basis as part of its pandemic response services. With ten companies and agencies providing staff there was no common system to schedule staff or track time to drive payroll and billing for services rendered.
Solution: Used no-code platform to build a cross-entity staff scheduling, shift reminders and time clock system that was used to match available part time resources with open shifts and track time worked, travel time etc to drive multiple entity payrolls as well as drive billing for resource hours deployed. Impact: Scheduled over 42,000 person shifts over 6 months to maintain full staffing across dozens of sites with ever changing opening hours, demand and staffing needs. Created a unified system of record for reimbursable resource hours from ten labor sources and generated weekly invoices for labor resources deployed. |
Administer VaccinesSituation: PE-backed healthcare services portfolio company needed to quickly enter a completely new service line and administer mass COVID vaccinations in a fully HIPAA compliant platform that would integrate with state immunization registries. No mass vaccination software solutions pre-existed.
Solution: Used no-code platform to rapidly build a complete vaccine staffing and administration platform that managed more than 1500 part time clinical and non-clinical staff seven days a week at multiple temporary vaccination sites as well as tracked vaccine appointments, doses administered, adverse reactions, vaccine inventory, manufacturers' lots and spoilage. Impact: Company performed over 850,000 COVID19 vaccinations over 5 months at mass vaccination sites and later deployed smaller scale mobile vaccination units to reach vulnerable and vaccine hesitant populations helping the sponsoring state government to achieve one of the highest vaccination rates of all US states. |
Municipal PayrollSituation: Municipal employee payrolls typically have many nuances and complexities not well handled by existing corporate payroll solutions resulting in a great deal of manual/offline work to prepare and submit payroll transactions.
Solution: Used no-code platform to create a highly configurable payroll rules engine and integrated it with a modern payroll-transaction processing-as-a-service platform to create an end-to-end payroll solution for municipal employers. Rules engine front end captures and classify time and applies customizable federal, state and municipal logic for work types, departmental allocations, pay rates, retirement deductions and taxes to fit the varied needs of municipal employers and collective bargaining agreements. Impact: Created a new software solution that fills a market void for a highly configurable yet cost effective payroll solution for smaller municipal employers. |
Ordering Medical TransportationSituation: Hospital clients wanted the option to order ambulance and wheelchair van transportation using an online portal in addition to the traditional phone-based method of ordering medical transportation. Third party software options suffered from significant limitations and did not integrate well with the company's on-prem computer aided dispatch (CAD) system.
Solution: Used no-code platform to create an easy to use and HIPAA compliant customer-facing booking interface that integrates bi-directionally with the on-prem CAD system. Five weeks from concept to live. Impact: Created an online booking system that improves data quality at time of ordering, eliminates lost time from multiple phone calls, provides real time feedback on transport status and ETA and happily co-exists with pre-existing systems and alternate booking modes. |
Medical Service IntakeSituation: Requests for time-sensitive medical services commonly lacked proper up-front justification and paperwork to generate billable insurance claims resulting in massive after the fact write-offs at this healthcare service provider.
Solution: Used no-code platform to build a HIPAA compliant ordering intake application as a wrap-around to an existing, inflexible transactional operations and medical billing system. Application guides ordering clinicians through a series of IF, THEN, ELSE questions and validations that recommend a suitable level of service that is justified as medically necessary. Impact: Changed ordering clinician and patient behavior resulting in robust documentation of medical necessity and selection of the appropriate (and reimbursable) level of service before the service was delivered largely eliminating past writeoffs and more than doubling EBITDA margin. Field Staff Support RequestsSituation: Distributed and mobile workforce of 1,000 staff felt inadequately supported by lean central staff groups who struggled to handle a myriad of support requests made my email and phone.
Solution: Used no-code platform to build a field staff support request ticketing system in 3 weeks that connected to existing on-prem company systems and also afforded employees new self-serve help options. Impact: Automated process for creating and tracking support requests bringing visibility and accountability to support functions, created new self-serve support options, improved front line employee morale and sense of connectedness. AI Document InterpretationSituation: Clients needed to automate process for establishing COVID vaccination and/or test status.
Solution: Leveraged several cloud OCR and machine learning services that enabled an individual to snap a photo of their vaccine card or recent negative test result in a myriad of formats and have system automatically understand and parse vaccination or test status from each document and confirm the person represented on each document matched the identity of the person uploading the document. Resulting status converted to a Red/Yellow/Green QR code that could be used to grant access to a facility or event venue. Impact: Eliminated costly manual collection and review of vaccine cards or test results at scale, reduced processing throughput time from days to under one minute, improved privacy and eliminated risk from transmission of private health information. |
Job-Level ProfitabilitySituation: Accounting system lacked detail to generate profitability at more than a highly aggregated level, transactional system captured detailed activity and revenue but not expenses, company had no visibility to what services, channels or customers were profitable or not.
Solution: Built hourly cost standards by resource-type and applied them to live job level transaction data to create job level profitability metrics that could be rolled up by customer, channel, geography and service provided. Impact: Analysis refuted management's traditional beliefs about where the company made money resulting in the company repricing or dropping services and customers that consumed resources but generated little to no contribution. Avoided a massive accounting system rip-and-replace. |
